This is a list of upcoming computer classes at Lexington Public Library locations.  Unless noted, all classes are free, one-time sessions.  Advance registration is required and can be completed by clicking on the class's "Register Now" link.

Please note any prerequisites and review General Class Information before registering for a class.

3D Modeling with Sculptris

Use the free 3D modeling application Sculptris to make your own simple 3D models. Sculptris is available for Mac and PC.

Learn about pivot tables, table formatting, and advanced formulas. Prerequisite: Intermediate Features of Excel 2013 or extensive previous experience with Excel.

Advanced Features of MS Word 2013

Learners will get experience using tables, running a mail merge, customizing Word settings and more. Prerequisite: Intermediate Features of MS Word 2013.

Colorize a Black and White Photo

Learn to colorize a black and white photo with Photoshop actions and painting. All photos will be provided.

Improve your computer skills with other seniors. Each month has a different tutorial with time for questions.

Computer Security

Learn about the kind of threats you may encounter online, software that can help protect your computer, and steps you can take to keep both you and your computer safer online. Prerequisite: Internet Basics or previous internet experience.

Desktop Publishing with InDesign

Use textboxes and paragraph settings to better organize your copy and save time by using presets when creating a multi-page documents.

Prerequisites: Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.

Learners will discover how to sign up for an account, send messages, add attachments, and manage their inbox. Prerequisite: Internet Basics or previous Internet experience. Must have a working cell phone number to create an account.

Create your own 30-45 second video spot using the professional grade video editing software. This class builds on techniques learned in the iMovie class.

Learners will discover the basics of word processing, including creating, formatting, and printing a simple document. Prerequisite: PC Basics. Students should be comfortable with the mouse and keyboard.

Fix "Red-eye" and remove blemishes from portraits. Learn how to combine several images into a single photo and move parts of one photo to another and add titles and text. Prerequisite: Introduction to MS Word 2013 or previous experience with photo manipulation software.

Learners will explore the basic functions and uses of a presentation program and create a simple slideshow presentation. Prerequisite: Introduction to MS word 2013 or previous experience using presentation software.

Introduction to Publisher 2013

Learn to create business cards, greeting cards, fliers and more in Microsoft’s graphics oriented home publishing program. Prerequisite: Intermediate Features of MS Word 2013.

Enhance and organize digital photos and create a slideshow with music and text. This is a great class for beginners.

Mouse and Keyboard Basics

Learners will experience a tutorial that teaches all the basic mouse movements, along with a brief introduction to ergonomics and touch typing. No computer experience necessary.

Online Storage: Access your files from anywhere

This workshop introduces the cloud storage and highlights Microsoft SkyDrive as well as introducing students to other free storage websites. Learners will discover how online storage can work for them and how to access their stored files from anywhere they have an internet connection. Prerequisite: Internet Basics or previous Internet experience. Must have a working cell phone number to create an account.

This workshop is designed for an audience that is new to computing. Learners will discover how to access the desktop, how to save, create, and move files and folders; and how to pin important stuff to the Start screen. Prerequisite: Students should be able to use the mouse and keyboard.

Learners will discover more about the advanced features of Windows 8, including how to personalize their device with a picture password, create a master control panel for all their settings, the full range of keyboard shortcuts and a number of time and effort saving ways to make Windows work for you. Prerequisite: Windows 8 Basics or previous experience using Windows 8.

Learners will discover how to effectively navigate in Windows 8. Participants tour the Start screen and experiment with touch gestures, live tiles, and charms. This workshop also shows how to work efficiently with snap and keyboard shortcuts. Prerequisite: PC Basics.
