Safety and Self Defense is a personal decision. How much do you want to sacrifice your personal freedoms to insure your protection? How violently can you react to violence initiated against you? Many of the precautions we should take are common sensical. We either don’t think to do them or we elect not to, because it crimps our lifestyle. In this program, AKF Lexington Martial Arts will provide a fun, safe, and valuable opportunity for women and girls aged 12 and up to take steps to ensure personal safety. Registration recommended.

Learn how you can easily scan and convert your family photos, slides, and negatives into digital format. Scanning/conversion costs can be expensive, but you can do this yourself with just a home computer and a scanner. In addition, we will cover how to get the most out of your prints when printing them yourself or using local or online companies to make your prints. In this workshop, you will learn how you may efficiently scan your precious photos, slides, and negatives using your home computer, low cost software (VueScan), and your scanner. You will also learn about ways to get the most out of your inkjet photo printer using some low cost software (Profile Prism) and a scanner to profile your printer for the specific paper and ink combination that your are using. You will also learn how to use some low cost software (QImage Ultimate) to get the most out of your prints when using local or online printing companies. Facilitated by Paul Briggs of Pandapix. Rain gardens are shallow, man-made landscape features designed to capture and reduce stromwater runoff. They allow stormwater to slowly infiltrate the soil rather than overwhelming the storm sewer which may potentially cause environmental and other problems downstream. Rain gardens are usually planted with native vegetation and provide an attractive addition to many landscapes. This talk will include information on planning, building, planting and maintained a rain garden. Registration is recommended, and all participants who register for the class will receive a copy of UK Extension publication, “Residential Rain Gardens: Design, Construction, and Maintenance.”
