Adalin Wichman among governor's arts award honorees

FRANKFORT — Artist Adalin Wichman — who created fashion ads for Lexington stores, the original model of the horse racing industry's Eclipse Award and the ceiling clock in the Lexington Public Library — was one of several artists who were lauded at the Governor's Awards in the Arts on Thursday.

She received the Milner Award, given for outstanding philanthropic, artistic or other contributions to the arts.

Other honorees were: award-winning Christian singer-songwriter and Paducah native Steven Curtis Chapman, National Award; Nicholasville-based company Alltech, Business Award; Fayette County Public Schools' School for the Creative and Performing Arts, Education Award; Harlan County native, University of Kentucky graduate and U.S. Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.), Government Award; Kenneth F. vonRoenn Jr., a Louisville glass artist, Artist Award; National Quilt Museum in Paducah, Community Arts Award; Helen LaFrance Orr, a Mayfield painter, Folk Heritage Award; and Erika Brady, Western Kentucky University professor and public radio host, Media Award.
