Getting Started With Your Nonprofit

Founded in 2002, the KY Nonprofit Network is an association of organizations of all types and sizes in all 120 Kentucky counties. We are a statewide resource for nonprofit board members, staff and other leaders, an information center on effective nonprofit organizational practices, and an advocate for the nonprofit sector as a whole.
Blue Grass Community Foundation is where people go to give—of their passion, money and ideas—to enhance the quality of life in our region. We help individuals, families, businesses and nonprofit organizations establish charitable funds, guide their resources to support causes they care about, meet community needs and make a difference. We also lead, convene and facilitate on important community issues.

The Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance is a government-wide compendium of Federal programs, projects, services, and activities that provide assistance or benefits to the American public. It contains financial and nonfinancial assistance programs administered by departments and establishments of the Federal government.

The Carnegie Center offers fee based classes on basic Grantwriting as well as a daylong Grantwriting Boot Camp that walks grantseekers through the grantwriting process.

News & Information

The Chronicle of Philanthropy is a biweekly newspaper that covers the nonprofit world. Based in Washington, DC, it is aimed at charity leaders, foundation executives, fund raisers, and other people involved in philanthropy. 
The Philanthropy Journal is an online magazine that delivers news, resources and opinion on matters relating to non-profit organizations. The journal offers a free website and email newsletters, nonprofit job postings, professional-development webinars, and resource listings. In addition to regular news coverage, it publishes information on trends, research, and resources relevant to nonprofits.
The NonProfit Times (NPT) is a newspaper based in Morris Plains, New Jersey, covering the business management of non-profit organizations in the United States., an initiative of Blue Grass Community Foundation, connects you to nonprofits doing great work in our community.

Crowd Funding (For Teachers) is a United States based nonprofit organization that provides a way for teachers to ask for direct donations for specific projects in public schools across the United States and locally.
Kickstarter (Creative Projects)
Kickstarter is an American-based private for-profit company that provides users with access to website tools that raise funds for creative projects via crowd funding.
Indiegogo (Creative Projects and Nonprofits)
Indiegogo is an American-based for-profit company that provides users with website tools for raising funds for creative projects and nonprofits. If you are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Indiegogo offers a 25% reduction of their platform fees.
