Music Discussion Groups

Music Discussion Kits

Outreach Service’s Music Discussion Groups provide information and promote interest in music and bring to light new types of music to the members of the group through the use of audio materials, supplemented by relevant books and articles.

The program is geared toward adults living in retirement communities and assisted living facilities who are interested in learning about and discussing music. The emphasis of the discussion is mostly classical music but may also include jazz, opera, Broadway, world music, or other genres the interests of the group dictate. Recent discussions have included works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Tchaikovsky.

The discussions last between 45 minutes and one hour. The ideal size for a music discussion group is 6-12 participants, plus the group leader. Please contact the Community Education Coordinator to schedule a discussion; Sherry Baker at 231-5594.
