FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Digital studio puts video projects within reach
Technology has revolutionized video production, but the high cost of software and equipment-not to mention the specialized knowledge required-has often prevented that revolution from entering the everyday lives of ordinary people.
The Lexington Public Library hopes to change that with the opening of its new digital studio at the Northside Branch. The studio will begin teaching classes Oct. 18, with different courses to cover iPhoto, iMovie, Photoshop and Final Cut Pro. The classes will be offered on a regular basis, including evening and weekend hours.
Once trained on the software, patrons may use the digital studio’s computers during non-class hours. The studio will be open from 2 to 8 p.m. Mondays, 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
During the weeks since the studio opened in September, patrons have used the studio for such projects as editing together home movies, making a homemade poster, and creating a back-to-school video for a church group.
Eventually, the digital studio also will have camera and sound equipment to check out. Users also will have access to the library’s production studio.
