Online Pressroom - Yes, We Have That!

With a collection of 636,787 items, including books, magazines, newspapers and audio-visuals, and about 750 new items arriving each month, the Lexington Public Library is the community’s source for the latest information and publications.

But the Lexington Public Library does more than provide the newest releases.

We provide information in a variety of formats, including audio books, downloadable audio books, large print books and foreign-language titles.

We sponsor seven adult book clubs—and three children’s book clubs—to give you a chance to discuss what you read and meet others who share your love for books.

We offer fun programs such as One Book One Lexington and the Adult Summer Reading Program—as well as the children’s Summer Reading Program—that encourage hundreds of people to read.

We offer a number of online resources (available at www.lexpublib.org/databases unless otherwise noted) to help you find your next favorite book:
  • NextReads newsletters (see www.lexpublib.org/nextreads). Choose from among 29 topics to receive book suggestions and information on upcoming library programs.
  • Bowker’s Books In Print. Find information and reviews on books, audio books and videos. (Available only to patrons inside the library.)
  • Fiction Connection. Discover titles similar to books you already enjoy.
  • Literature Resource Center. Articles on thousands of books, authors and literary genres from authoritative reference sources.
  • LitFinder. Use Litfinder to find the full text of thousands of poems, short stories, plays and essays, as well as author biographies and explanations.
  • Novelist. Search over 70,000 fiction titles to find new books to read based on your interests. (Provided by Kentucky Virtual Library.)

And if you can’t find the book you want in our collection, you can make recommendations for purchase or check out books from the 1.2 billion available through Interlibrary Loan (see http://clio.lexpublib.org/).
