Starlab Planetarium

Explore the wonders of the galaxy, and observe the beauty and science of the night sky by stepping inside the Living Arts and Science Center's StarLab Planetarium dome. Registration required. This event will be mostly aimed at adults, but older kids, or kids with a strong interest in astronomy, are welcome too (kids under 13 must be accompanied by a parent, who is also registered for the program).

The Science of Waste Management

Learn all about the different aspect of waste management, including collections and the technology in the City’s collection trucks; recycling and composting. There will also be a model demonstration of a landfill and how it works, and a LFUCG waste management truck on site, for anyone to get in and meet a waste collection employee.

Introduction To SLR (single lens reflex) Photography

Learn to control your digital or film SLR camera. Get beyond the automatic settings and explore the functions that your camera offers. Topics include: overview of the SLR, shutter speed, aperture, exposure, composition, lenses and basic flash photography. No digital post-processing will be covered.
