The Marksbury Family Branch Makerspace, located at 2197 Versailles Road, is an inclusive space where customers of all ages can come to learn, create, and explore together, free of charge. Outfitted with current high-tech and low-tech tools, the Makerspace is designed to promote education and cultivate a do-it-yourself spirit for the whole family. New facility will remain at previous location with a larger footprint and expanded offerings
Lexington, Kentucky (August 18, 2022) – The Lexington Public Library broke ground on a new, significantly larger facility in the former Village Branch location on Versailles Road to better provide for the needs of the neighborhoods it serves. The new branch will reflect the community’s vision for a state-of-the-art community hub, one that offers robust resources and a myriad of program and service offerings. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on Tuesday at a media event featuring Library and City officials.
Library meeting rooms are available for individuals, non-profit, for profit, study groups, and community organizations seeking to hold meetings, trainings, and workshops. Meeting rooms are free of charge. Sterno and other tools/equipment that have an open flame are prohibited.

Listen to a story and learn about an artist! In each session we will learn about an artist and discover some new techniques to create a piece of art to take home. Ages 7-11, no registration required.

Are you curious about how to create landscapes that support beneficial insects, including pollinators and natural pest predators? We will discuss the latest research and key principles in backyard insect conservation, considerations for plant selection and habitat design, and maintenance practices that encourage a healthy, balanced ecosystem.

With National Nurses day being May 6th, Eastside will host a creative program where children can create their own stethoscopes, care for stuffed animals in a “Teddy Bear Clinic,” and explore a pretend doctor’s office. Along the way, they’ll learn about helping others, staying healthy, and the important role nurses play in our communities.

To honor the Mexican-American heritage that celebrates the battle won over the French at the Battle of Puebla, Eastside will host a program designed for preschoolers. We will create take-home crafts like papel picado, musical instruments, pinatas and have some in-house face painting.

Explore studio basics, from recording and mixing to sharing your tracks. Build performance skills and stage presence to showcase your art. Dive into the business side of music, including registering your songs with BMI and uploading them online.

Join us for an evening of music and creativity at the library! The Song Farmers, a local collective of talented musicians, are inviting everyone to sing, play, and enjoy popular tunes together. Bring your favorite craft project or try one of the fun craft activities we’ll provide while you listen, sing along, or even pick up an instrument and join the band!
