Join UK Horticulture Department Extension Agent Reena Martin for an informative session on making lawncare simple.

With National Nurses day being May 6th, Eastside will host a creative program where children can create their own stethoscopes, care for stuffed animals in a “Teddy Bear Clinic,” and explore a pretend doctor’s office. Along the way, they’ll learn about helping others, staying healthy, and the important role nurses play in our communities.

The weekly classes will be informal and guided by a moderator.  EVERYONE is welcome - ANY native language, ANY English level. You can have a nice lawn without excessive fertilizer or chemical pest control. We will discuss sustainable alternatives to traditional lawn care strategies. The emphasis will be on working with nature and understanding the biology of cool-season lawn grasses.  Learn why late summer is the best time to seed and why common fertilization practices are often not the best approach.

To honor the Mexican-American heritage that celebrates the battle won over the French at the Battle of Puebla, Eastside will host a program designed for preschoolers. We will create take-home crafts like papel picado, musical instruments, pinatas and have some in-house face painting.
