Chinese calligraphy is the writing of Chinese characters as an art form, combining purely visual art and interpretation of the literary meaning. This type of expression has been widely practiced in China and has been generally held in high esteem across East Asia.

Come and learn Japanese stab book binding at the Eastside Makerspace. Japanese stab binding is a method that requires no glue or signatures, where single sheets are stitched together with thread. There are basic four-hole patterns, but various unique patterns can be created. We'll be using washi paper for our covers.
Participants will create miniature models of sushi using modeling clay, practice using chopsticks, and watching anime! For ages 10-13, please register as supplies are limited.

Here, at Eastside, we will be offering an art program dedicated to expressing emotions through music and paint. Chromesthesia is a phenomenon where one may associate colors with sound. We will design a unique color palette and paint to the music!
Many historical records also focus on men, with women listed only under their husbands’ names. Johnna will introduce and explain strategies for researching female ancestors, including information about sources at LPL and beyond.
