A group of committed library customers started the Lexington Public Library Foundation in 1997 with the goal to give Lexington Public Library the additional funding it needed to expand and improve services, programs and facilities.
Since then, the Foundation has helped the Library with a wide variety of funding challenges:
- Designing lexpublib2go, a mobile app for on-the-go access to the Library's catalog and resources.
- Restoring the Central Library’s Pendulum Clock, Atrium, and Farish Theater into a state-of-the-art facility for film, theater, presentations, and live performances.
- Equipping the Digital Studio at Northside Branch, including audio booth, green room, and cutting-edge editing technology
- Retrofitting the Storytime Bus, allowing the Library to take storytime activities to children in underserved areas.
