In this workshop, we’ll explore comic and manga art, going over character designs, poses, panel layouts, and simple storytelling techniques that make manga so exciting to read. Whether you’re a beginner or already love to draw, you’ll leave with your very own comic page and the basics to keep creating. 

It’s 2010. Staggeringly successful and brilliant tech entrepreneur Bix Bouton is desperate for a new idea. He’s forty, with four kids, and restless when he stumbles into a conversation with mostly Columbia professors, one of whom is experimenting with downloading or “externalizing” memory.

Day 1 opens Friday with keynote speaker Patricia L. Hudson, author of Traces, a retelling of Daniel Boone's saga through the eyes of his wife, Rebecca, and their two oldest daughters, Susannah and Jemima.

Participants are welcome to drop-in anytime between 3:30-5:30 pm and stay as little or as long as you would like!

Herbs are usually what give many of our favorite foods their characteristic taste, like the boldness of a pasta sauce or the depth of a savory soup or stew. Generally, these ingredients add to the dish by providing a new dimension of flavor.

Presented in partnership with the University of Kentucky School of Information Science, this session introduces us to the basics of artificial intelligence. We will learn what AI is, how to ask effective questions, and how AI can help solve everyday problems.

Are you curious about animals from Australia or Butterflies? Maybe you want to learn more about dinosaurs or puppet-making. In each Curious Crafting session we will explore a new topic, read a book, and make a craft to take home! 

We will learn how to recognize AI-generated media and spot possible deepfakes. Through challenges and discussions, we will explore ethical issues and how to be responsible digital citizens.

Let's explore how our senses affect our eating experience and discuss some activities that allow us to have playful experiences with food. Parents, caregivers, and children are invited to join the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service to learn how using our senses can make eating a more enjoyable experience. Registration is recommended but not required.

Join us for an evening of music and creativity at the library! The Song Farmers, a local collective of talented musicians, are inviting everyone to sing, play, and enjoy popular tunes together. Bring your favorite craft project or try one of the fun craft activities we’ll provide while you listen, sing along, or even pick up an instrument and join the band!

Join us at West Sixth Brewing for our monthly Cult Classics Book Club! This month, we will be discussing "We Have Always Lived In The Castle" by Shirley Jackson. Copies of the book are available at the previous month meeting, or the Central Library's front desk.

Creating your own DIY gel air freshener is a good way to know what is in it and can make it any scent you want without it being overpowering. Peppermint and lemon are a great combination to help keep the air fresh and your nose clear. Air fresheners with essential oils are easy to make so you will be able to make quite a few in no time at all. All materials provided but are limited.

This month's theme is Cyberpunk. Pick any book you want that fits the theme and come discuss it with friends! Each month, we will discuss books in a different genre and everyone will talk about the book they chose to read. Spoilers may occur, so please be advised.
