A book club to discuss literary works by black authors
Lexington, Kentucky (January 16, 2024) – Lexington Public Library is proud to announce their new Black Voices Book Club which is dedicated to discussing literary works by black authors. The Club meets on the third Saturday of each month.
Jamie tells an abridged history of Russell’s Cave, Fayette County’s largest cave.

The commencement pamphlet contains event program, the high schools seniors and the grammar school graduates for Fayette County in 1921.

Sewing machines
These provide 60 stitch patterns and are available for use in basic sewing projects. Needles, notions, and threads are provided in the Makerspace. Please bring your own material, as well as thread if you require something specific.

Use this router for small scale wood milling with a maximum size of 8x8x3 inches. Please supply your own personal items for milling. Speak with an Eastside Makerspace staff member to schedule an appointment to use the CNC router.

Tabletop kiln
Fire small pieces made of precious metal clay. Machine can hold items up to 2.5x1.5”. Please supply your own personal materials for firing. Speak with an Eastside Makerspace staff member to schedule an appointment to use the tabletop kiln.

J.P. Johnson guest hosts to celebrate the life of Dolly Johnson Dandridge (1852-1918), a Kentucky native who was the White House Chef for President Benjamin Harrison, and later a much sought-after chef after her return to Lexington, Kentucky in 1894.

The Community Collections consist of objects shared from local community residents and organizations. Individuals have lent items of local significance to the library to give the larger community awareness and access. The original objects are not owned by the Lexington Public Library.

If you are an individual or organization interested in possibly lending items to be digitized by the library, please contact elibrarian@lexpublib.org. We consider item age, location, content, relevance, privacy considerations, and item condition when determining items to add. Content donors must be the legal copyright holders if the item is not in the public domain.
