For Summer, the Blue Grass True Crime Book Club is reading & discussing David Dominé's A Dark Room in Glitter Ball City!

Watercolor painting club with a Youtube lesson each month suitable for beginners, dilettantes, and anyone who just wants to hang out and paint with us. We will be following a series of tutorials that start with the basics at our first meeting and build on those skills with each class that follows. Presented in partnership with the University of Kentucky School of Information Science, this session introduces us to the basics of artificial intelligence. We will learn what AI is, how to ask effective questions, and how AI can help solve everyday problems.

We will explore how AI can support creativity by generating art and stories. We will create characters, experiment with different styles, and remix our ideas using AI tools. The session ends with sharing our creations and reflecting on the creative process.

We will learn how to recognize AI-generated media and spot possible deepfakes. Through challenges and discussions, we will explore ethical issues and how to be responsible digital citizens.

Kids can splash, pour, scoop, and experiment at a variety of water stations, from mini “splash zones” to pouring and sensory tables. Along the way, they’ll explore early science concepts while building motor skills and enjoying a refreshing summer activity.

Frannie Preston (University of Kentucky Department of Forestry and Natural Resources Extension), will teach you how to find and identify wildlife signs and learn how biologists use these signs as a tool for research.
