Lexington Public Library Donations Received January 1, 2025 - December 31, 2025
Friends of the Lexington Public Library provides financial, advocacy and volunteer support to the Library. Shop at the Friends Book Cellar in the Central Library for a great selection of used books, magazines, CDs, DVDs, audiobooks, and vinyl records, all at discounted prices.

We stand for free and open access to information. That starts with removing unnecessary barriers to our educational resources and technology. The Lexington Public Library no longer charges fines or fees for late, lost, or damaged material.
The Lexington Public Library receives most of its operating funds from an Ad Valorem property tax. By State law, the Library receives five cents for every $100 of assessed property value in Lexington and Fayette County.

Central Library - Farish Theater
The Eastern Kentucky University's Guitar Ensemble returns for a performance ranging from classical to pop. Classical Music Sundays presents live classical music the third Sunday of every month, September through May, with EKU music professor Bernardo Scarambone as emcee.

Northside Branch - Story Room
Instructors from Pick and Bow, an Appalachian traditional music program, will give a mini-concert, do music related activities and crafts, and teach basic fiddle/banjo/guitar/dulcimer skills to kids.

Tates Creek Branch - Large Meeting Room
The documentary features archival photographs of Maddoxtown and it's residential family as well as Faraway Farm, where Ms. Williams' father worked as a groom for notable thoroughbred racehorses, including the Horse of the Century, Man o' War.

Central Library - Farish Theater
Show No. 194 features long-time series sponsor Jamey Aebersold on saxophone plus Tyrone Wheeler on bass, Jonathan Higgins on drums, and Wade Honey on piano. Since 2007, Jazz at the Library has presented live jazz performances on the second Thursday of every month.

Northside Branch
Join Northside staff and learn to make a simple, traditional Cathedral Windows quilt. Make one block each month and you will make a finished small quilt or throw by the end of 12 months! Fabric and sewing tools provided while supplies last. Prerequisites: you must already be able to thread a needle and hand sew a straight stitch and a slip stitch. Please register if you plan to attend.
