Outreach Services

Outreach Services assists people throughout Fayette County who need extra help using Library services and facilities, including:

  • Homebound adults and those in nursing or retirement centers
  • Children and young people in day care centers, Head Start programs, and special at-risk programs
  • Adult literacy and English as a Second Language (ESL) learners

Book Buddies

Book Buddies is a service for permanently homebound adults.  Trained library volunteers select and deliver Library materials to those who are unable to visit Library locations.

Languages & ESL

The Multicultural Liaison connects non-native English speakers with the Library services by providing programming and developing community partnerships that further the Library's mission.  Online language learning for 70+ languages and ESL learners is available through Mango Languages.

Book Van

The Lexington Public Library Book Van makes regular deliveries to facilities serving children, teens, families, and senior citizens.

Community Education

The Community Education Program serves those who cannot access Library materials and services on-site. Programs take place in community centers, nursing homes, assisted living facilities and retirement communities.
