Free program being offered at Northside and Village Branches

Lexington, Kentucky (December 20, 2022) – Lexington Public Library announced today that its popular LPL After School program will return in 2023, beginning January 2. 

LPL After School is a FREE drop-in program for kids aged 5-12 that takes place after regular school hours, Mondays through Fridays from 4-6pm.  The Library, in partnership with God’s Pantry, will provide snacks for all participants as well as STEAM and enrichment activities, homework help, and reading recommendations. And there’s no need to register—just show up!

Join librarians Alexa and Jenny as we talk books. What we're currently loving, what we're hating, and what we can't wait to read next!

Destination Kindergarten

Destination Kindergarten is the library’s program aimed at preschoolers and their caregivers- trying to help them practice the skills they need to be ready for Kindergarten.  During each Destination Kindergarten event, preschoolers and their caregivers can find a specalized area in the library with fun books, take-home activities, and information about development milestones and school readiness.

Saturday, June 24 2023 11:00am - 12:00pm Not an artist? Not a problem! We'll provide the art supplies; you provide the creativity during this open art program. June focus is street art inspired by Keith Haring. Recommend for 5-12 years old, dress for mess please.

Tuesday, July 11 2023 5:00pm - 6:00pm Learn how to pour paint to create puddles, pools and marble-like patterns. Pouring results in a smooth, glossy paint film that is perfectly even and blemish free.
Wednesday, July 12 2023 11:00am - 12:00pm Freddy Fossil and his life-like puppets will help kids find answers to their dinosaur questions.  It's pre-hysterical family fun!! Recommended for those in preschool-5th grades.
Tuesday, July 11 2023 4:00pm - 5:00pm Free summer snack from FCPS will be served for all children 18 years or younger Monday - Friday between June 12 - July 28.  No snack will be served June 19, July 3, and July 4.  All snacks must be consumed on site.
