The Marksbury Family Branch Makerspace is an inclusive space where customers of all ages can come to learn, create, and explore together, free of charge. Outfitted with current high-tech and low-tech tools, the Makerspace is designed to promote education and cultivate a do-it-yourself spirit for the whole family.

The Kentucky Images collection contains postcards, photographs and slides of people, architecture, and locations in Kentucky and Appalachia.

Advisory Board

Craig Cammack is a graduate of Hanover College, where he studied political science and social movements. He has been a vocal advocate for legislation promoting equality and fairness. Craig was Chairman of Lexington Fairness in 2010, 2011, and 2012. While Craig served on the board, Lexington Fairness grew dramatically with a focus on outreach to Ally support groups, organizations and businesses.

The Lexington Public Library receives most of its operating funds from an Ad Valorem property tax. By State law, the Library receives five cents for every $100 of assessed property value in Lexington and Fayette County.

Database

For grades pre-K through 3, BookFlix pairs classic video storybooks with a related nonfiction book from Scholastic imprints. These engaging stories will help early readers to develop and practice essential reading skills.

These provide 60 stitch patterns and are available for use in basic sewing projects. Needles, notions, and threads are provided in the Makerspace.  Please bring your own material, as well as thread if you require something specific.

CNC router

Use this router for small scale wood milling with a maximum size of 8x8x3 inches. Please supply your own personal items for milling. Speak with an Eastside Makerspace staff member to schedule an appointment to use the CNC router.

This space is equipped with professional microphones, video equipment, and lighting to record and video for your podcast. 16 and 32 GB flash drives are available for purchase, but you may need to bring additional storage depending on the size of the project.

This item is available for use in advanced sewing projects. Needles, notions, and thread are provided in the Eastside Makerspace. Please bring your own material, as well as thread if you require something specific.

Tabletop kiln

Fire small pieces made of precious metal clay. Machine can hold items up to 2.5x1.5”. Please supply your own personal materials for firing. Speak with an Eastside Makerspace staff member to schedule an appointment to use the tabletop kiln.
