Fully renovated and updated, the theater on the Central Library’s first floor is home to theater, dance, live music, film, community events, and meetings. Celebrate Lexington, Kentucky’s 250th anniversary this April with a full month dedicated to the history and heritage of music, poetry, and literature in and around Lexington with events hosted by the Lexington Public Library, the City of Lexington, 21c Museum and Hotel, the Carnegie Center for Literacy & Learning, Institute 193, and the Pam Miller Downtown Arts Center.

Join us at the Beaumont Branch for a special author event with New York Times bestselling author Patti Callahan Henry on Sunday, May 3rd at 2:00 PM. Patti Callahan Henry will discuss her writing life and the stories and history that inspire her beloved novels, followed by a Q&A.

The Undesign the Redline project unearths the deep and systemic history of structural racism and inequality in the United States. This interactive exhibit explores policies like Redlining, their implications for today, and what we can do to undesign them.
The exhibit was created by social impact design studio designing the WE and has been invited to dozens of cities across the country. A local advisory group has helped to produce local history and stories about Redlining in Lexington.
In this hands-on Botanical Printing workshop, we’ll explore the beauty blooming all around us and learn how to turn common spring plants into natural works of art. You’ll start with simple plant identification focusing on easily recognized, abundant blooms and leaves you can confidently gather in your own backyard.
