Northside Branch - Digital Studio

Dive into the fundamentals of digital animation using Procreate for frame-by-frame illustration and Premiere Pro or Final Cut for editing and timing. This class covers basic animation principles—like squash and stretch, anticipation, and timing—while helping students produce their own short animated clips.

Starting your own business or nonprofit is hard work, but we can help you locate the tools you need to get your ideas off the ground.

Meet with a librarian for one-on-one consultation.  Please submit the Book a Librarian Appointment Request Form or call 859-231-5500 during business hours to schedule an appointment.  Appointments are scheduled Monday-Friday during Library business hours and typically last 30 to 45 minutes.

Lexington, Kentucky (April 12, 2023) – The Lexington Public Library will be Fine Free for all materials, effective immediately, following a vote at today’s regularly scheduled monthly board meeting. Lexington Public Library customers will no longer incur fines for late, damaged, or lost library materials. Additionally, the Library has forgiven all current, outstanding fines

Walking Tour

Join us for a walking tour of Downtown Lexington’s African American Heritage Sites. The full tour is available as a single MP3, or you can download individual tracks. For the single MP3, music will play between the stops. You can pause the track while you walk between stops.

This tour covers a walking distance of 1.7 miles.

Alex Garcia is originally from Los Angeles, California. He attended the University of Kentucky in 2004 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 2008. He then attended the University of Kentucky College of Law and earned his law degree in 2012. After graduating from law school, he began his legal career working at the Fayette Commonwealth’s Attorney Office prosecuting serious felony crimes such as murder, robbery, kidnapping, and assault.

The Lexington Public Library offers an Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service which allows cardholders in good standing to borrow books and receive copies of articles we do not own and cannot purchase. Our borrowing network includes over 4,000 participating public and academic libraries.

Grand Opening set for Saturday, March 9

Lexington, Kentucky (January 17, 2024) – Lexington Public Library is proud to announce the Grand Opening of the Marksbury Family Branch of the Lexington Public Library.

Festivities include a Media Day event on Friday, March 8 from 8:30-10am and a Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday, March 9 (more details coming soon). The current Village Branch will remain open through 6pm on Friday, February 23.

Eastside Branch - Large Meeting Room

City budgets are an expression of what a community values. This workshop is all about understanding how your tax dollars get to the city,
and then how and what city government invests that money into. This workshops includes a mock budgeting process to help you understand the trade-offs and negotiations in the process.

Join the experienced instructors from Kentucky Refugee Ministries for an informative and free citizenship class designed to assist individuals on their path to naturalization. This class is open to all participants who have held a Green Card for a minimum of 4 years and 9 months.
