Day 1 opens Friday with keynote speaker Patricia L. Hudson, author of Traces, a retelling of Daniel Boone's saga through the eyes of his wife, Rebecca, and their two oldest daughters, Susannah and Jemima.

Daniel Boone is the quintessential Kentuckian, having blazed the trails that would become the map of Kentucky through courage, love of the newfound region, and his cunning facility with the land and its native peoples. Born November 2, 1734, Boone quickly demonstrated a preference for the outdoors and established himself as an accomplished hunter and explorer.

When people—particularly those who reside outside of the Bluegrass State—think of Kentucky, three things usually come to mind: bourbon, Colonel Sanders’ secret chicken recipe, and the glamourous Kentucky Derby. Add college basketball to that list, and you have yourself a superfecta.

Join Northside staff and learn to make a simple, traditional Cathedral Windows quilt. Make one block each month and you will make a finished small quilt or throw by the end of 12 months! Fabric and sewing tools provided while supplies last. Prerequisites: you must already be able to thread a needle and hand sew a straight stitch and a slip stitch. Please register if you plan to attend.

Join us at West Sixth Brewing for our monthly Cult Classics Book Club! This month, we will be discussing "The Last Unicorn" by Peter S. Beagle. Copies of the book are available at the previous month meeting, or the Central Library's front desk.

Visit us weekly for gardening tips and to get advice for your gardening problems! Master Gardeners will also provide free seeds (or plants, when available) and gardening education resources.

The weekly classes will be informal and guided by a moderator.  EVERYONE is welcome - ANY native language, ANY English level. Let's explore how our senses affect our eating experience and discuss some activities that allow us to have playful experiences with food. Parents, caregivers, and children are invited to join the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service to learn how using our senses can make eating a more enjoyable experience. Registration is recommended but not required.
