To honor the Mexican-American heritage that celebrates the battle won over the French at the Battle of Puebla, Eastside will host a program designed for preschoolers. We will create take-home crafts like papel picado, musical instruments, pinatas and have some in-house face painting.

Northside Branch - Classroom

Join Northside staff and learn to make a simple, traditional Cathedral Windows quilt. Make one block each month and you will make a finished small quilt or throw by the end of 12 months! Fabric and sewing tools provided while supplies last. Prerequisites: you must already be able to thread a needle and hand sew a straight stitch and a slip stitch. Please register if you plan to attend.

In this hands-on Botanical Printing workshop, we’ll explore the beauty blooming all around us and learn how to turn common spring plants into natural works of art. You’ll start with simple plant identification focusing on easily recognized, abundant blooms and leaves you can confidently gather in your own backyard.

Stop by the Children's Department to participate in a scavenger hunt. Images will be hidden around the department and it's up to you to find them all! Scavenger hunts will change throughout the month.

Marksbury Family Branch - Community Room B

You can have a nice lawn without excessive fertilizer or chemical pest control. We will discuss sustainable alternatives to traditional lawn care strategies. The emphasis will be on working with nature and understanding the biology of cool-season lawn grasses.  Learn why late summer is the best time to seed and why common fertilization practices are often not the best approach.

Drop off your old puzzles at starting Friday, May 1, and receive a ticket to swap for a puzzle on the day of the event! One ticket per puzzle donated.
