We stand for free and open access to information. That starts with removing unnecessary barriers to our educational resources and technology. Starting April 13, 2023, the Lexington Public Library will no longer charge fines or fees for late, lost, or damaged material.

Free program being offered at Northside and Village Branches

Lexington, Kentucky (December 20, 2022) – Lexington Public Library announced today that its popular LPL After School program will return in 2023, beginning January 2. 

LPL After School is a FREE drop-in program for kids aged 5-12 that takes place after regular school hours, Mondays through Fridays from 4-6pm.  The Library, in partnership with God’s Pantry, will provide snacks for all participants as well as STEAM and enrichment activities, homework help, and reading recommendations. And there’s no need to register—just show up!

Join us for a walking tour of Downtown Lexington’s historic sites. The full tour is available as a single MP3, or you can download individual tracks. For the single MP3, music will play between the stops.

Friday, June 23 2023 4:00pm - 5:00pm Have you ever wanted to learn Sudoku? Or do you love to play Sudoku and wanted to show off your skills to others. Either way here is the opportunity you have been waiting for! Event is open for anyone interested in Sudoku for Summer 2023.
Thursday, June 01 2023 11:00am - 11:30am A movement focused storytime including yoga-based breathing and stretching techniques for wellness, emotional regulation, and body control. Please bring a yoga mat or towel if you have one. Caregivers are invited to practice yoga with their children.
Wednesday, May 31 2023 5:30pm - 6:45pm Practice your English speaking skills in a group meeting every other week.  This is a fun, casual atmosphere to practice and improve your English.  Speakers of all levels are welcome. We have a new topic for every meeting.
Thursday, June 01 2023 1:00pm - 6:30pm Teen and Adult makers join us for Open Studio in the Makerspace at Eastside. You can use equipment like the 3D printer, Cricut, Large Format Printer, and more.
Thursday, June 01 2023 3:00pm - 3:45pm Join us at Central to listen to some calming stories, learn some calming skills you can practice at school or home, and enjoy some sensory activities to help with emotional regulation.
Thursday, June 01 2023 4:00pm - 5:00pm Stop by for books, stay for the fun! K-12 and their caregivers students can use this time to relax, unwind, and hang out with friends (and learn too!). Enrichment activities like reading with a buddy, board games, arts, crafts, and so much more will be available! Snacks will be provided to youth age 18 and younger courtesy of God's Pantry. Activities courtesy of CHI St. Joseph Health. No registration required.

Thursday, June 01 2023 5:00pm - 6:30pm Looking for a safe space to exist around other members of the LGBTQ+ community, while working on craft projects new and old? Drop in any time during the evening, and hang out while using materials and tools from home, or learn something new! We'll have sewing machines, embroidery hoops, yarn, and more available in our Makerspace!

Every Wednesday morning from 10 am - 12 pm, you can drop in at the Beaumont Branch to get personalized one-on-one help with your job hunt.  Laptops will be available to use to build your resume, and USB drives will be provided for your electronic document storage.
