The library is essential to a thriving community, ensuring equitable access to information, education, and technology for all. We raise funds to support Lexington Public Library programs, services, and special projects that go beyond what public dollars alone can support.
The Marksbury Family Branch Makerspace, located at 2197 Versailles Road, is an inclusive space where customers of all ages can come to learn, create, and explore together, free of charge. Outfitted with current high-tech and low-tech tools, the Makerspace is designed to promote education and cultivate a do-it-yourself spirit for the whole family. The William Stamps Farish, III Theater at the Central Library is available to the community for lectures, live music, community forums, film festivals, small theatrical productions, dance performances, literary readings, debates, and other creative uses.

Lexington, Kentucky (January 17, 2024) – Lexington Public Library is proud to announce the Grand Opening of the Marksbury Family Branch of the Lexington Public Library.
Festivities include a Media Day event on Friday, March 8 from 8:30-10am and a Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday, March 9 (more details coming soon). The current Village Branch will remain open through 6pm on Friday, February 23.
3D printers
3D print a variety of items. PLA filament must be purchased from staff in the space.
3D printers are able to print items with a maximum size of 9.8 x 8.2 x 8.6 inches.
Media digitization equipment
Digitize cassettes, Blu-rays, DVDs, CDs, records, VHS, slides, and negatives. 32 GB flash drives are available for purchase, but you may need to bring additional storage depending on the size of the project.
Mac Computer Lab
Use Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office Suite, Apple apps, and other photo, audio, and video editing software to create, edit, and design a variety of projects. 32 GB flash drives are available for purchase, but you may need to bring additional storage depending on the size of the project.
