Join us at the Beaumont Branch for a special author event with New York Times bestselling author Patti Callahan Henry on Sunday, May 3rd at 2:00 PM. Patti Callahan Henry will discuss her writing life and the stories and history that inspire her beloved novels, followed by a Q&A.
You can have a nice lawn without excessive fertilizer or chemical pest control. We will discuss sustainable alternatives to traditional lawn care strategies. The emphasis will be on working with nature and understanding the biology of cool-season lawn grasses. Learn why late summer is the best time to seed and why common fertilization practices are often not the best approach.
Join Northside staff and learn to make a simple, traditional Cathedral Windows quilt. Make one block each month and you will make a finished small quilt or throw by the end of 12 months! Fabric and sewing tools provided while supplies last. Prerequisites: you must already be able to thread a needle and hand sew a straight stitch and a slip stitch. Please register if you plan to attend.

We will discuss the latest research and key principles in backyard insect conservation, considerations for plant selection and habitat design, and maintenance practices that encourage a healthy, balanced ecosystem.
Participants are welcome to drop-in anytime between 3:30-5:30 pm and stay as little or as long as you would like!
