The Lexington Public Library offers an Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service which allows cardholders in good standing to borrow books and receive copies of articles we do not own and cannot purchase. Our borrowing network includes over 4,000 participating public and academic libraries.

Teacher Time returns to the Marksbury Family Branch Makerspace July 13–17 and to the Eastside Makerspace July 20–24, with two sessions each day: 11:00am–2:00pm and 3:00pm–6:00pm.

The Eastside Makerspace offers a large-format laminator that can laminate items up to 24 inches wide. Both Makerspaces and the Northside Digital Studio offer a pouch laminator that can laminate 8.5 x 11-inch or 11 x 17-inch items.
TeachingBooks is a collection of resources about children's and young adult books, including author and illustrator interviews, video book trailers, audio book readings, book discussion guides, and much more. Provided by the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives.

Laura Hatfield, Superintendent of Community Engagement for Lexington Parks & Recreation, manages Lexington Parks five community centers, Volunteer Program, Partnership Program and marketing team. In this position for five years and previously serving as Director of ONE Lexington and the Executive Director for Partners for Youth, Laura has been with the Lexington Fayette County Government for over 15 years.
The Lexington Public Library receives most of its operating funds from an Ad Valorem property tax. By State law, the Library receives five cents for every $100 of assessed property value in Lexington and Fayette County.

Free program being offered at Northside and Village Branches
Lexington, Kentucky (December 20, 2022) – Lexington Public Library announced today that its popular LPL After School program will return in 2023, beginning January 2.
LPL After School is a FREE drop-in program for kids aged 5-12 that takes place after regular school hours, Mondays through Fridays from 4-6pm. The Library, in partnership with God’s Pantry, will provide snacks for all participants as well as STEAM and enrichment activities, homework help, and reading recommendations. And there’s no need to register—just show up!

Lexington, Kentucky (April 12, 2023) – The Lexington Public Library will be Fine Free for all materials, effective immediately, following a vote at today’s regularly scheduled monthly board meeting. Wendi Keene retired from a thirty year career with the YMCA of Central Kentucky. She held many positions from early education teacher, camp director, and after-school site director until she worked her way to outreach programing. When she left the Y she had become the Executive Director of Community Initiatives for the total Y association with her focus on the arts, literacy and volunteers.
